I want this in my backyard, it would be a nice place to sit and think or read.

Burned pgs 148-244
In the book as far as I've read Pattyn's life gets turned upside down, she has to face many demons in her life that's she was to naive to notice. One day at school she is walking down the hall and she saw Derek with another girl after he had witnessed how strict her parents were. She saw him and her holding hands and kissing, they were dating. Pattyn being so upset decided to confront the girl and say something. However, confronting turned into fighting and by the end of the day the girl was in the ER with a hairline fracture and Pattyn was suspended from school for the rest of the school year.. over a boy. Derek she found out had been saying mean things about her behind her back and she then confronted him, where he denied it, but then showed no remorse for what he knew was true.
When her parents were informed about what had happened at school, her dad was enraged and decided that he no longer wanted Pattyn to live with them. He decided that she was to live with his sister Aunt J who Pattyn hadn't talked to in years. Her dad drives her all the way to Nevada to live with her aunt. After meeting her aunt she discovers that she is a lot like Pattyn and after a few weeks they become very close.
Also, Pattyn spies a boy in the local market named Ethan. He is much older than her and she suspects that he doesn't even notice her. However her Aunt J thinks she has a chance in becoming closer with her because he is family friends with Aunt J and is always at her house.
The book is really good, I am looking forward to reading about what else happens between Pattyn and Ethan and seeing if Pattyn really does change now that she is away from he family. Good book and an easy read, I would definitely recommend it.

Burned pgs. 104-148
In the beginning of this book Pattyn seemed to live a charmed life, but then I soon found out in reading that her home life was very sad and disarrayed. Pattyn seems to be falling for the boy she met at school named Derek. Derek told Pattyn she was pretty, a thing she remarks in the book. Derek was the first boy to tell Pattyn she was pretty, he charms her and Pattyn is continuously falling for Derek the more attention he gives her.
Pattyn uses a shooting range as a sanctuary and when Derek ends up coming there to help her shoot she feels strong feelings toward him. Pattyn feels a connection toward Derek and even though she knows it wrong, Pattyn wants to go to and do things with Derek that her family wouldn't approve of. When her and Derek decide to defy her family and do what they know they shouldn't someone see's her, she is not sure who but she runs home as fast as possible before they can get to her father. Sadly, it was her father that saw them and when she gets home her father slaps her and beats her and forbids her to see Derek. She then fights back and snaps scaring the rest of her family for facing her drunken father.
The book is really starting to pick up like most of Ellen Hopkins books. I love the way she makes Pattyn strong and a good character. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book it is starting to get better.

Kitties in Kitty Coffe Cups
Burned pgs.1-104
The book burned is strangely typed just like all of the rest of Ellen Hopkins book, I've read her other two books CRANK and Impulse as well so I am pretty used to the format. The book starts out with a young girl, she is a good girl- good grades, conservative and active in her church. However the reader at first thinks her life is perfect but then finds out what happens beyond the front door. Her dad is a drunk and abusive to her entire family but mainly her and her sisters who take the brunt of the beatings. Desperately searching for a way to become noticed she puts herself out there, gets a little dolled up and goes to school- without her parents seeing her outfit of course. However, her best friend is not pleased she feels like she is changing herself, not even acting like the girl that she has known for her whole life. But, Pattyn ignores her friends fears and does so anyway. With this she gets attention from guys who never had shown her attention before.
Pattyn gets invited to a party where there are many illegal things going on and she gets taken advantage of by one of the boys. Depressed by what happens she confides in a new friend Derek who seems like a nice guy. Patty thinks she may have a crush on the boy but she isn't sure at the moment.
Overall, this book reminds me a lot of the previous books but it is still a very good and easy read. I like the things in this book because they seem real and deal with problems that I find interesting.

Columbine pgs 97-170
In Part 2 of the book, it is all about the survivors rush to closure and how the town acted as if nothing had happened, because even though the families were grieving they wanted to forget about Columbine and that the whole situation even happened. However, the parents of Dylan and Eric had trouble in public because everyone knew who their kids were and what they did to Columbine high school, it was traumatizing for all of the families.
There was also talk about wether or not to rebuild the school. Members of the society speculated that it was too much for the kids to handle and that walking back into the school would be a nightmare for the victims. However, most of the kids wanted to rebuild the school, fixing columbine would help them to become a group again and to be around peers that had the same experiences as them. The parents had no idea of what to say to their children who had been n columbine because there was no way that they could utterly imagine what it was like to have been in that kind of tragedy. Watching your classmates die at the hand of another classmate.
This book has definitely taken more of a depressive tone, at first in the beginning of the book you were mad. However, when you read the parts about the aftermath it makes you very sad for the victims and the families involved. This book can really play with your emotions while you read it.

Chapter18: Columbine
In chapter 18, Last Bus is all about the families surrounding the columbine victims. Although this is a very short chapter it talks about all of the sorrows and stress of the relatives. One sad event in particular is when the police tell all the parents that there will be one last bus that comes, all of them hoping that their child, brother or sister is on the bus. The buses were from the school to the sanctuary where all the parents could wait safely. The rest of the parents who hadn't reunited with their child were all waiting outside for their kids and when they went to the police to ask when the bus was coming they said there wasn't one. Many of the parents were mad and angry for the mis information because it wasn't fair to tell all of the parents that there was an additional bus when there wasn't one.
Although this is a very sad chapter, it brings out the courage and loyalty of the school principal Mr. D who stayed with all the parents until the very last one left. And along with the parents he was devastated when children did not return. Also it talks about Dave Sanders the teacher who was shot and how no one will tell his family about the events surrounding his injury or if he is dead at all.
This chapter was very hard to read because of how devastating it would be to have that happen to you as a parent. There were so many tragedies surrounding columbine. The book is still a good read, it is becoming a bit depressing though.

Chapter 17: Columbine
In chapter seventeen, it talks about the SWAT teams journey into the school. How they pursue down the hallways not knowing who might be at the end of every corner. When they enter into the library it is a massacre. Their are bodies and blood pools strewn around the room. They even claim that some students were still holding their pencils as they laid lifeless in the library. Upon entering they concluded that most of the kids had been dead for a little over four hours and whilst they were going around the library they found two bodies with injuries that stood out from the rest. They soon figured out that the bodies were Dylan and Eric, the killers. The boys after killing everyone in the library then took their own life by shooting themselves.
Although the library was full of death and sadness, the SWAT team however did find one girl alive, barely, but she did live. From a policeman's term- "twelve were cold, one warm." They also concluded that during the shooting in the library most of the kids had attempted to take cover underneath the tables unsuccessfully.
This chapter also covers Dylan's prom date, the one who gave him one of the guns that supplied to the shootings. Because of Robyn's fear to tell the police on how she gave Dylan the gun, she lied to the police messing up evidence in order to figure out the mystery of the killers.
Still, this book has been a very interesting read and I love learning about all of the things that happened on that sad April 20. The book is sometimes very frustrating and depressing but it is a really good book and I would definitely recommend it.

Chapter 16: Columbine
In chapter sixteen, Boy in the Window, Cullen talks about Patrick Ireland a boy who was in the library at the time that the killers attacked. When Ireland is in the library the boys bust in and start shooting, students get under tables and some even pretend to be dead. Ireland accounts for when the boys got to the table they harassed one of his friends for being black then shot him and his other friends. Ireland then tried to comfort his friends but then was shot once in the leg and then once in the head. Through the next few hours he was drifting in and out of consciousness and then finally chose to slowly crawl towards the window where he tried to jump out of. SWAT teams soon rushed toward him and tried to aid him and got him down from the window safely.
Overall, I am still really enjoying this book. The stories in this book are very sad but also heartwarming, like the story of Patrick Irelands courage to strive forward even though he was shot in the head.

Chapter 15: Columbine
In chapter 15, First Assumption talks about the stereotypes that the media put on the killers. Much of the information that the media brought to the public was false. They claimed that the boys were social outcasts and that they were retaliating against the school because they were bullied. However, both boys had friends, girls and were very well liked by their peers and were certainly not bullied. It also talks about how the boys got all of the information to make the bombs and how they acquired the weapons. Eric had built the bombs from an online website he found called The Anarchist's Cookbook, that gave formulas and such on how to make bombs. As for getting the weapons the boys had gotten an old enough friend from their work to go to the gun convention and buy them guns. Their friend however was under the impression the boys were using the guns just for hunting purposes and not one of the worst school shootings in history. The boys also got a gun from Dylan's prom date, deceiving her as well.
The chapters also talk about the boys parents reactions after the shootings and their way of dealing with the grief of what their children had done. Dylan's parents in comparison to Eric's were much more communicative and were willing to share information in their house. Unlike Eric's parents whom were much less communicative than Dylan's parents, they found a lot more evidence in Eric's room- including Eric's diary.
I have really enjoyed reading this book so far. It is an easy read however it is very enthralling. I really like learning about all of the true facts that happened and being up to date on the sad event. Knowing what really happened makes you so much more knowledgeable than if you do not read the book. It is truly an eye opening read.
Osama bin Laden
WASHINGTON — For years, the agonizing search for Osama bin Laden kept coming up empty. Then last July, Pakistanis working for the Central Intelligence Agency drove up behind a white Suzukinavigating the bustling streets near Peshawar, Pakistan, and wrote down the car’s license plate.
Thinking about how much the United states has had to go through as a nation is incredible. From going from 9/11 to the death of Osama bin Laden has been a major milestone in United States history. This day was memorable for two reasons. One, because all of the families of the victims of 9/11 could finally sleep knowing that their loved ones killer was now dead. The other was because the United States had chased around bin Laden for years and thinking that we could never kill the mastermind of 9/11 - however all of that was made possible.

Chapter 14: Columbine
Chapter fourteen- Hostage Standoff, talks about the situation between the boys and the cops. Where they are both at a standoff, the boys are on the roof of the school while the cops are near the front of the school, the boys and the cops then have a shoot-off and luckily no one is harmed. There are also rumor circling about some possible hostages and the SWAT team is pressured even more to figure out a way into the school without putting the students in danger. When the SWAT team enters the school they are in a whole new environment with no maps of the school they have to go in blind without knowing where the killers were in the school.
This chapter also talks about how the media begins to speculate. The news teams and such are starting to think about what is happening and get information from the victims. However the majority of their publishing is either wrong or from a news station point they could put students in danger if the killers had been watching when they aired victim footage. Thankfully, they were not.
Overall, this book is very interesting and I am looking forward to reading more into this book and finding out more facts about the incident.

Chapter 13: Columbine
In chapter Thirteen "1 Bleeding to Death" talks about the sign that was posted up on the second story of the science hallway. The signs purpose was to alert the medics that obviously someone was bleeding to death in the room, and that someone needed help. Sadly, Dave Sanders earlier described in the chapter "Dads" is the one bleeding to death. He spotted the killers in the middle of the hallway then was shot and had to crawl into the nearest classroom. Children had tried to aid them but knew that he was slowly dying.
The chapter also talks about the parents desperation while their kids are still in the school and also about parent-child reunions. It talks about Dave Sanders family and the troubles his wife is having with him not coming home the first night. She didn't sleep or eat, worried he might be dead however the police nor teachers would give her any news. Linda kept her mind on the little things like how she forgot to vacuum and other housework.
The research when the police talked to witnesses was very unreliable, many students were so traumatized that they had other ideas of what the killer looked like in their minds. Many kids thought there were more than two killers, which could be attributed for when the boys changed out of their trench coats making it seem like there were more than two.
The book so far has been really inthralling to read and I am enjoying every minuet of it. I love reading about all of the facts however hard it may be to realize what really went on and what happened.

Columbine
Being that Columbine by Dave Cullen is the book I am reading currently I feel that it is right to make a post for the anniversary of Columbine today. Above I posted a picture of Patrick Ireland, a boy who nearly died from the attack but however he merely survived-- being that he was shot twice in the head.

Art Show
(I really like this cartoon image because it displays a bit of creativity, I love the drawings and colors.)
The playful and charming image this piece of artwork displays evokes childhood feelings for the viewer. The bright and warm colors of this cartoon create a jolly mood. The artist uses clean cut lines and the drawings are very geometric. The cartoon like layout examples a very childhood upbringing mood, leaving the viewer with nostalgic thoughts. The sharpie outlined characters convey a cleanness about the drawing, with all colors inside of the shapes and designs.

Chapter 12: Columbine
In chapter twelve, The Perimeter talks about the police action when the first 911 calls were heard. The first to the scene was a deputy sheriff named Gardner, he and Eric had exchanged gunfire through the first hour until further police, firetrucks and SWAT teams arrived on the scene. When the firetruck got to the scene the police then took all of the living victims and put them behind the barrier of the firetruck. The reasoning for the chapters name is that with all of the police cars and firetrucks they built a surrounding around the school and hid all of the kids behind the cars and trucks for safety. Many of the survivors were traumatized from the shootings and their descriptions and number of the shooters were all very inaccurate. Police now account that the reason for the different number of shooters is that when the boys arrived in the trench coats they took them off in the school and had only wore them in the first place as a means of getting the weapons and bombs inside of the building. Overall, police did all they could to help the recent living victims however many of the dead victims were left outside bleeding and were left there for a while.
In my opinion the way the police went about dealing with the surviving victims was a good makeshift plan for the problems at hand. However, the police's way of going about the dead victims was terrible and should never be repeated, again the book is very interesting and I am actually reading avidly.

Chapter 11: Columbine
In chapter 11, Female Down, when the boys decided to proceed into school it was 11:19, where they meet up from their original fire stations that they had planned to shoot from, at all of the students escaping the school. Both boys then went to the highest point of the school shooting all pedestrians outside of the school, when people originally saw the damage they thought that it was a Senior prank and that the boys just had paintball guns. A couple boys ran toward them hoping to play along with their prank but soon they were mistaken watching one of their friends get shot then running quickly away from the shooters. Most of the kids in the yard that were getting fired at soon learned that playing dead was the best way to stay alive because they weren't getting shot at. There were also many survivors personal accounts of the boys first moments of shootings. Many claim that the boys said "This is awesome" and were getting all hyped up about the shootings. Also from the accounts it seems as if they boys had no mercy when dealing with all students and another person killed was just a drop in the bucket.
Overall these few chapters are very enthralling, lately I haven't been reading books that have enveloped me as much as this book has. I really enjoy reading this and even at times I have had to set the book down because the book at times can get very intense.

Home #1: Pharell Williams
Looking at the home of Pharell Williams shows a comical more artsy side of him. His home has a more upbeat and jolly tone when looking at the multitude of artwork and different objects in his house. Noticing that he has murals of family guy characters alludes to his love of dirty humor and love of political ribaldry. Although his house gives off a funny flair his house is also very modern with a bit of hipsterness along with it. The cool hue's of his house create a more somber feeling when looking at his house but along with all of the artwork he gives the house personality.

Chapter 10: Columbine
In chapter nine, Judgement, the title of this chapter is called Judgement named after the name that Dylan and Eric gave the day planned. The book goes over the boys events for the Morning before the shootings. That morning the boys got all of their things ready and then they went out to get something to eat. In the morning they got the gasoline and arsenal which then the boys were behind schedule because of their allotted "chill time" was too much time. The boys had to hurry and put the duffel bags in the school in the morning and then wait for them to detonate. They then waited for the bombs to go off and after about twenty minuets they realized that the bombs were not going to explode and their main course of maximum density had failed. Still trying to recover their lost time in waiting for the bombs they decided to "proceed on faith."

Chapter 9: Columbine
Chapter nine, Dads, talks about a loving coach and teacher Dave Sanders. This chapter goes into Dave's personal life talking about his kids and his love life. Dave Sanders and Mr. D the principal were good friends all through their time of working. He was the basketball and became very close to some of the teammates and the school of Columbine came to know him as the coach to many girls. He was very considerate of his players and he took their attitude and their dedication into consideration when picking starting players. It also talks about his personal life a little bit. He i married to a woman named Linda Lou, she is very nice and by Cullen's descriptions he cares deeply about linda. It states that Tuesday morning, his wife and he were very busy and did not get to give their routine morning goodbye kiss, something Linda Lou will remember forever.

Chapter 8: Columbine
In chapter eight, Maximum Density, it talks about how the boys planned to eliminate the students of Columbine. This chapter talks about how the boys finalized their plans and how they obtained the weapons and skills of crafting bombs. In crafting bombs Eric designed seven big bombs from the Anarchist Cookbook that he found online. Both boys had been avid about keeping the plan in motion, however the book lets the reader think that Eric was more passionate about the killing spree rather than Dylan.
The boys also talked about their plans in setting up the bombs, they had designed for the bombs to go off at 11:17 during the lunch period in the lunch room and in the hallways for the maximum density of kills. They then as people ran outside of the building from the cafeteria they planned to shoot all survivors. The bombs were planted in specific places around the school so that the second story of the building would collapse and therefore kill even more students, thankfully the bombs never actually detonated. The boys also planned their outfits for the shootings, Eric wore a white shirt that said Natural selection on it and Dylan wore a black shirt that had Wrath on it. Both boys wore trench coats into the school, but they only wore the trench coats so that they could successfully hide their bombs and they could carry their guns into school.
Also, the book talks a little bit about the boys Monday before the Tuesday shooting. Dave Cullen states that the boys had a very uneventful day and they attended bowling club and went along their schedules as usual, not creating any suspicion.

Chapter Seven: Columbine
Chapter Seven talks about the Evangelical church and talking about religion in the city of Columbine. The title of this chapter- Church on Fire, is more of symbolism, alluding to the terrible things that happen in Columbine. However, the chapter reveals that Columbine is a very religiously active society and hold bible study, youth groups and listened to Christian rock.
Also, the book talks about the Monday morning after prom. It says that all students were accounted for and ironically it mentions Mr. D's relief to see all of his students "bright and shining faces" in the morning. Little does he know that tomorrow one of the worst shootings in high school will take place in his school.

High School Senior Predictions
I would have to say that the senior that is most comparable to my aspirations would be the architect-Nathan Rebelo. Him and I although have different majors planned I think that we both have similar life plans. I do have a plan of the college I want to go to and I also have a back-up plan like him if it all doesn't work out. I loved how he said that he wants to be an architect because he is leaving pieces of himself around the city and is able to show people his accomplishments in large. The person that I found most diluted was the actress- Shauana Casale. I think that she has some pretty high aspirations and she doesn't have any real concrete plans for her future, like a college or anything for theater arts. Also, on a personal opinion, I did not like her impersonation of Clarise on Silence of the Lams, I thought it was a little flat and unemotional. Also, the person that I found the most interesting was the Hair and Make-up artist- Raquel Renolds. I think that she was very nice and she fits the mold of a hair and make-up stylist too. It's also really cool that shes following in her Grandma's footsteps. I found it interesting that she doesn't have a lot of self-confidence and that she feels that she isn't pretty because I think she really is. Where I see myself in the future.. I really love the field of psychology and I'm really interested in art so I am thinking about going into the field of art therapy. I have a few schools that I have in mind at the moment, I'm just working on getting my test scores up so I can apply. I think it will be a good stable job that I will love and not get bored with.

Favorite Poem of the Quarter
Over all of the poems we have read over the quarter, I really enjoyed listening to "Here, Bullet". I love the way Turner uses such vivid imagry and parallels the shot of a gun to the insides of someones body. It almost alludes to the soldier and how he is sacraficing himself to the bullet. Offereing himself to the bullet. I love the way when you read the poem the images that enter you mind and the way Turner goes around his words. "Here, Bullet" really captures the soldiers mind in wartime.

Columbine: Chapter Six
In chapter six "His Future", it talks about Dylan's prom experience, he takes his date Robyn and treats her so nicely. Everyone in the group accounts Dylan for being cheerful, nice and playful. He event talked about his future, going to Arizona with a friend who was going for Florida and also staying in touch with each other because they were all too good of a group of friends to let it go.
This chapter also talks about Eric's prom experience, although he did not go to prom he had his love interest, Susan over to hang out at his house and watch a few movies. From the books account Eric seemed cheerful and nice and even pecked Susan on the cheek when she left his house that night.
It also talked about after prom, where the adults held a function in the gym. It was a New York, New York themed gambling idea. Where all of the students went and gambled with fake money. The whole prom group went although they said the boys and girls mostly separated at the time and Eric joined the after prom group.
Reading about how both boys dealt with prom and how cheerful they were right before Tuesday seems really odd. I cant wait to read the rest of the book finding out about why the boys were so casual just days before they had planned to massacre the very school they had enjoyed many memories in and people that they shared the memories with.

Country Boys
This film centers around two boys Cody and Chris, who live in an abandoned coal town. For living in this poverty stricken town these boys acquire a stereotype of being ignorant rednecks. Both boys go to an alternate school called, David School, and they both are also not sure which grade they are in because of their lack of determination to study hard and because of family influences. Comparing the diction of the two boys, Cody and Chris are in some ways similar but also some way different. Cody expresses himself in a multitude of ways. One way is how he dresses, he dresses more gothic-ish: painting his nails black, spiking his hair, and the types of songs he sings. Also, when he speaks he is more articulate than Chris. Cody is also more socially aware, he has a girlfriend and has a firm idea of the way he wants to be seen.Chris is the opposite, he speaks rather slowly and he doesn't have as wide of a vocabulary as Chris does. His teachers tell him that he had the IQ of a seventh grader. Both boys besides their educational standing, have hard home lives as well. The majority of Cody' family is dead and Chris's family has to deal with his alcoholic father. Even though the boys are not mentally smart they have been through much more than most people could handle, therefore they are able to take care of themselves and they are emotionally smart.

Columbine: Chapter Five
In chapter five "Two Columbines" it talks about Dave Sanders the business teacher and girls basketball coach. He is described as hard nosed, strict but overall a nice guy. He is also famous for "his look" which can get students to stop talking in an instant. He also devotes his life to the girls basketball team and how much he cares about the girls. The chapter also reveals a bit about his personal life, how he was divorced because his wife claimed she was "married to herself" and was never home. He also got married again to Linda Lou who had two kids and so he had three kids including the one from his first marriage, he adopted the second two and really created the whole image of a family.
In the second part of the chapter it talks about prom. Where a boy named patrick contemplates his dates and contemplates his crush Laura. But she gets asked before he gets the chance. However at the dance they share a slow dance together, both of their favorite memory of prom. It also talks about a girl, Cassie Barnell, a girl who didn't get asked to prom but then went to all of the afterparties.
Reading this chapter I think about why the author is choosing to describe these characters.

Columbine: Chapter Four
In chapter four "Rock 'n' Bowl" it talks about the boys plans for Tuesday versus Mr. D's plans. How Dylan and Eric had planned to kill themselves after the shootings and that the coming weekend they still had to straighten out some of the plans that they had going on including getting all of the ammo and for Eric, getting a date to the prom. They also talk about their jobs, Eric works for a local blackjack gig, and although he said he hated it, it helped him pay for the majority of the things for the heinous crimes on the coming Tuesday. It helped them to buy bomb production, weapons and napalm experiments.
Also Eric makes plans to go with a girl to prom, Susan, a sweet nice girl. She also gives Eric one of her fathers hunting guns because Eric claims to have no guns for his hunting trip the coming weekend.
This was an extremely short chapter however it was interesting in seeing Eric manipulative skills for guns and Dylan's money usage. Reading this makes the shootings all too real. I am looking foreword to reading more on the boys.

Columbine: Chapter Three
In chapter three "Springtime", it talks about the way that the school looks. Up by the rockies in a small valley surrounded by lush green. It was spring so everything around the school is starting to bloom and along with spring was coming senioritis. It talks about columbines lunch system and how they have an open campus and how the boys would pack one of their cars with a slew of boys and then went to a fast food restaurant. Mr. D in this chapter talks about his love for running lunch duty, where he gets to talk to all of the students and he enjoys conversing with all of the students. Unlike many of the teachers who don't necessarily love lunch duty and make fun of Mr. D for liking it.
Also, this chapter talks about how there has been school shootings for the past, and that society had hoped that there would not be another high school shooting for a while. However, everyone all over the United States were wondering when the next outcast would strike.
Although this chapter was smaller than the others it still revealed a lot of information about the boys and Columbine high school in general. Also leaving a little foreshadowing in the end.

Columbine: Chapter Two
In chapter two, "Rebels" it describes the two boys Eric and Dylan. The two boys who committed the shootings. Cullen describes the boys fairly normally, they had friends, dates and didn't seem too aggressive. Eric was the the brain of the two and he smoked, drank and got with girls. He was cool and had lots of friends. He was a ladies man and although he did make really good grades and studied hard. Dylan was a lot like Eric, however he was also very different. Dylan was self-concious and noticeable less attractive than Eric. However Dylan was a lot smarter than Eric he still looked to Eric for approval on everything that he did. Dylan looked up to Eric and was a follower of him, even though they were in the same friend group. The book also talks about how prom was nearing and ironically Eric was the one without the date, he had put all his time and effort into getting Dylan a date.
The book also talks about how the two boys speak to each other. Eric leads the conversations, the more social one while Dylan is more taken back and withdrawn but he still enjoys in interesting conversation.
Listening to the descriptions of the boys really interests me, it really surprises me that they did that because the author describes them fairly normally. It is really interesting to read about how they were and the way they interacted with each other and others. I'm looking foreword to getting past the descriptive stuff in the book and really looking into the events that occurred on that sorrowful day.
Tatttooos
When I am older I am really looking foreword to getting a tattoo on my foot. But I want it done well, I could not go to some hole-in-the-wall tattoo parlor to get something on my body that is permanent. Corey is a professional tattoo artist at LA Ink and if I ever do get a tattoo it will be from him.

Columbine Chapter One
In the first chapter Mr.D Dave Cullen talks about Mr. D the principal that all of the kids that go to Columbine actually like. Compared to the way students normally treat authority, they actually listened and cared about what Mr. D had to say. A a pep rally before the students prom that day he tells all of the students how important each one of them are to him. He also gives the usual lecture about no drinking and driving on prom and remembering to be safe. But unlike all of the principals, what makes him different, is the way he opens up to his students, involving them all in his speeches and the way he gets so emotional, almost crying to his students.
Also, in the end of the chapter, theres a sad note. It tells the reader about how Mr. D's students on Tuesday will be carried out in ambulances and taken to the hospital.
This book looks really interesting and the fact that it is non-fiction is what really draws me to it. I have always known the basic facts about Columbine but I really want to learn more about the topic. So far, its starting off pretty slow but I know that it will pick up.
Nostalgic Thoughts
Thinking about all of the different books that I was looking through on the website. It really brought up alot of my childhood memories and feelings when I was younger. Two books that really stood out to me was Where The Wild Things Are and Goodnight Moon. My mom always used to read Goodnight Moon to me. In watching Where the Wild Things Are this weekend it really didn't pertain to the book at all, it gave alot more family information than in the book. Both of the covers were exactly how I remembered them when I was a child. Although, I didnt know that they were really that old of books. They are really timeless classics.

Spellbound
In the Spellbound movie, all of the players deal with stress and recieve stress in different ways. While watching the movie I started to really like Neil and April. Through the competition both of their families and themselves deal with the stress in completely opposite ways. April comes from a warm family where her mother who practices with her daily is very encouraging and just overall proud that she even won just the spelling bee at her school. Her parents are both very supportive and although April is very pessimistic about her spelling capabilities, both of her parents are confident in her. April throughout the entire Bee was very self concious and cynical, which was the opposite of her parents being very optomistic. However, in contrast Neil's family was very high stress, Neils father put alot of unneeded pressure on Neil to win the spelling bee. Neils father if Neil wins is feeding children in India, however if he does not win then the children do not get food. I think that Neils father should never have put that much pressure on him to win the Bee, it is unfair to Neil and all of the children he would be feeding. Neils father also, is very pushy, always making Neil practice leaving no time for Neil to even take a breath. Although Neils father is much harder on Neil than Aprils, he still expresses how proud he is of Neil, even though he adds alot of unneeded stress to their Bee enviornment. In the end, both of the contestents are eliminated, however, both of them take the news fairly well, both familys are very proud of them and in the end although they would have liked to win, it really didnt matter in the end because they did a tremendous job.
Identity
This movie is honestly one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. It really has a message that sticks with you. I cant really go into any detail without ruining the whole movie but I will say that you should watch it, it really is what you call one of those mind games movies. You really have to watch the movie in order to know whats going on.
The Last Song pgs. 72-79
In chapter eight, Ronnie, goes out to eat with her new friend Blaze. They sit and talk about Marcus and just life in general. Many of the things that they talk about are pretty intense and although they have different personalities Ronnie somehow thinks they are sort of similar in the way they both have a good sense of humor and they both dont have very good relationships with their Dad's.
One of the things that Blaze and Ronnie talk about is the worst thing that they have ever done. Blaze tells a story from her childhood where when she was little she and a boy named Billy hated their old mean neighbor and one day their neighbor had planted a bunch of pretty flowers but that same night Billy and Blaze went out and sprayed weed killer on all of the flowers. Blaze then said how her neighbor was outside all day trying to figure out what was wrong with the flowers but could never figure it out and eventually all of the flowers dies within the time of a week. Blaze then said that she didnt tell the neighbor ever that it was hers. When it is Ronnies time to tell her worst thing she begins with when she stole, but then she tells Blaze how she shoplifted twice and if she gets caught one more time that they will press charges but if she doesnt then the charges will be lifted and it will be taken off of her record.
After they are done having a few intense conversations, Marcus and a few of his friends sit down by Ronnie and Blaze but oddly enough Marcus chooses the seat by Ronnie instead of Blaze. While they are all sitting the boys start eating Blaze's food and she is being a complete pushover even allowing Marcus to embarass her and talk about extremely personal stuff at the table. Ronnie thinks it is really sad how she lets him treat her this way and Blaze reminds her of a good friend she has back at New York, Kayla.
In this chapter, I learned alot about Blaze and all of the things she has had to go through growing up, that she isnt just doing nothing with her life for no reason. I like how this chapter talks about the relationship between Marcus and Blaze and I see it slowly starting to fade and I fear that Marcus might try to pull something with Ronnie, which scares me. This was my favorite chapter so far.

The Last Song pgs 67-71
In chapter seven, Will, a very short chapter, it talks about the conversation between Scotty and Will talking about Ashley. Will does not like his ex girlfriend Ashley at all, he thinks she is shallow and closed minded. Although he thinks she is a very attractive looking person her personality ruins it all, he thinks that she is boreing and he concludes to Scotty that he is done with her and he wont even "hook-up" with her. Scotty on the otherhand really wants Will to get back together with Ashley, of course for his own benefit of getting with Ashleys friend Cassie who is as equally shallow minded as Ashley. When Will starts talking about Ronnie to Scotty he completely shuts him down calling her "Vampire Girl". But Will sees more than "Vampire Girl" he sees how she reacted in the fight being so nice and caring to the little boy who was hurt, he also notices how she is the complete opposite of Ashley. He describes Ashley as "putting people into boxes" otherwise being very judgemental and thinking back to Ronnie although he knows very little about her he knows that she does not "put people into boxes" that she is what he says "refreshing".
Will while thinking about Ronnie more and more finds it weird that he is considering he knows so little about her. However, he definately knows that he is not getting back together with Ashley so she is completely off of his radar. And in the end of the chapter he catches himself thinking about when is the next time or even if he will run into Ronnie again.
Although this chapter was very short it was actually very informational about Will. He described all of his feelings, it sort of reminded me of a soliloquy in a play where the character reveals there innermost thoughts without others around (besides Scotty in the beginning). I have started to notice the extreme cheesyness of this book, but I still really like it.

The Shinning
This is my favorite movie of all time. I really love all of the camera angles in this movie as well. This movie is one of those horror movies that although they arent very gross or scary, it leaves a queeby feeling with you when your done watching it. Anyway, I love Jack Nicholson and this is the movie that got me started on all of the movies hes acted in. Ps- his wife in this movie.. looks like a horse
The Last Song pgs 58-67
In chapter six, Ronnie, get in a huge fight with her dad. Ronnies dad while she is out having fun running around the pier with her new found bad influence friends gets ambushed by officer Pete. Who goes up to Ronnie and tells her he is taking her home, however being stubborn of course Ronnie declines, only adding further complications until she finally lets him. Ronnie when she gets home explodes with fury, she yells and screams at her dad. Even at one point she tells her dad that she hates him, grabs a picture of her dad and her playing the piano and hurls it across the room hearing it shatter. Her father however, know exactly how to handle Ronnie, he simply says nothing but "I love you, your room is down the hall" rushing Ronnie with guilt for a few split seconds. Ronnie then goes back to being mad. Her dad was the only one out of both of the parents to actually enfore rules to Ronnie. She cannot just walk all over the dad like a doormat how she did with her mom. Ronnie soon realizes that he is going to enforce the rules however much she is going to rebel against them.
Also in this chapter Ronnie learns that not only is her room down the hall, but she has to share a room with her brother Jonah, every sisters worst nightmare. However, although she is seething with anger from her dads little stunt with the poliece she is still a somewhat sweet sister to Jonah. You can tell that DEEP DEEP down she does love Jonah and her father but for the moment showing that she loves them is the farthest thing she wants to do.
Although it is not something you want to read about your favorite character getting in a bad fight with her dad. It does show some interesting characteristics of the dad and how he sort of has the power to control Ronnie better than the mom did. I am enjoying the read so far and I am thinking that soon Ronnie and Will will encounter again - igniting their tension. (haha)

The Last Song pgs 44-59
In chapter five, Will, the boy who had basically trampled Ronnie in the third chapter. This chapter however does not describe Will as some arrogant bonehead who doesnt know anything and just relies on his looks. Will is more of a nice guy who is surrounded by arrogant people, especially his friend Scotty. Will also has alot of girl drama putting into consideration of his good looks. Will has an ex girlfriend Ashley who always trys to hangout with him but he is always making excuses not to. She is a mean and nasty girl, completely beautiful girl but she has an attitude problem. Scotty on the other hand thinks that she is a total catch and always tries to set Will and Ashley up again, of course to benefit his own needs by hanging out with one of her "hot friends". To Scottys dismay, Will always declines.
In another part of this chapter it talks more about the fire that Ronnies dad Steve was involved in. Although it is only a few short excerpts not fully giving away the answer, it is inferred that Scotty started the fire and that Will had witnessed it but not said anything. They allowed Steve to get the blame for everything and they hadnt said a word.
Also in this chapter it describes a fight on the boardwalk between Scotty and Marcus. Will is describing the fight, and just when it starts to get heated, "a familiar voice" he says comes in, which ends up being Ronnie. Breaking up the annoying boy ego fight and helping a small toddler who got knocked down in all of the commotion. Will in watching Ronnie do this, the reader can tell that he is very attracted to her as a person in her manerisms and the way that she had reacted in that situation, taking the boy back to his mother and treating the boy so nicely.
This chapter I thought was very interesting, Will seems to really already have and attraction to Ronnie although they have never even shared a maximum of 5 sentances between eachother. I really am enjoying this book and I am looking foreward to reading more.

Stuck in my Head!
The Last Song pgs 39-44
In chapter four, Marcus, Ronnie describes a friend that she meets. He is a boy named Marcus, the boyfriend of Blaze a girl that Ronnie had met. Marcus is a jerk, Ronnie can already tell. By the way he treats Blaze and by the way he acts in general. Although he is a jerk, he has some pretty cool tricks up hiis sleve. Marcus and a few of his buddies street preform using fire balls. They take pieces of old cloth and soak them im a gasoline/fuel substance to keep them lit, then they use special gloves to handle the fireballs while juggling or messing around with the fireballs, creating a cool street show to earn some extra cash on the side.
Ronnie can tell just by watching the way that Marcus dismisses Blaze that he is completely uninterested in her. Blaze is very affectionate toward him and kisses on him and he just ignores her and pretends that she isnt even there. However, Ronnie can tell that Blaze is the kind of girl that goes for guys like that. Boys that dont pay any attention or listen to them in anyway and a girl is completely attracted to them (ie: Marcus and Blaze).
In this chapter, it conveys a huge character flaw in Marcus. Marcus in the chapter tells Ronnie a story that for some weird reason he is proud of. He tells about this boy who he talked to whom was very excited to take his boat out on the pier this summer and how much he loved his boat and only three days after him telling Marcus that, Marcus burnt the boat down. After telling that story Marcus said how he hated rich people and how he hated people that bragged.
This chapter was sort of interesting just learning about one of the characters in the book. I think that Marcus is an intersting character and he will have some sort of important impact on the book later on. The book is an excellent and easy read. At this point in time I would recommend it to someone.

The Last Song pgs 25-38
In chapter three, Ronnie, she decides to explore the Georgia coast by herself. She finds everything uninteresting just like her pessimistic outlook on life. Ronnie decides that she will go to the peir and look at all the shops first although she thinks that she will find nothing. When she gets there she was right, she finds nothing interesting although in this chapter it shows an intersting part of Ronnies character. She walks up to a puppy shelter showing love and compassion towards the puppies. Which is very unlike her negative apparel and outlook. She then donates to the puppies fund for a home. This part in the book proves Steves premonitions about Ronnie still being the sweet little girl he has always known, on the contrary beleif of her mom.
After donating, Ronnie decides to look at beach volleyball game going on below the peir. Although she is not one for sport watching or partaking she decides to give it a look because there is nothing better to do in this "boring town". When she gets down there she notices the stereotypical croud, the good looking boys playing and then the pretty, tan and blonde girls fawning over them. After Ronnie has a good staredown, she notices one of the boys, thinks that he actually doesnt look that arrogant but then corrects herself. She then gets bored and starts to leave and just as shes walking past the game a ball goes flying at her which soon she gets ran over by the cute boy she had noticed earlier. While she had been nearly trampled she also had her entire drink spilt all over the front of her.
She notices the kindness and true regret of the boy but she still is pretty standoffish toward him. When he tries to make amends by the only way he knows how, flirting, she completely shuts him down by walking away annoyed.
So far I am really liking this book. I think it is a very easy read, but even though it is not very challenging I still am very enveloped into this book reading every single detail. I love the character of Ronnie, maybe it is some alter ego I wish I had, who knows.. And I am still looking foreward as always to reading more

The Last Song pgs 13-24
In chapter two, Steve, the book changes to the perspective of Ronnies dad Steve. Steve is a loving father that still believes that there is still good in Ronnie, even though she is failing all of her classes, doesnt play the piano anymore and she failed her SAT's. Even in the book her father says "Do you know how smart you have to be to miss every single question on the SAT?" Steve really loves his family although he moved all the way to Georgia. He feels terrible though that his daughter, Ronnie, hates him. She feels that he abandoned her bother and her during the divorce. Steve shows that he is really dedicated to his family even though Ronnie may disagree. Steve however, hides a secret that none of his family knows. He is sick and has been getting sicker, the book does not reveal what sickness he has but it does convey that it is serious.
This chapter also talks about how Ronnies dad got the house that he lives in. Steve was an apperentice for the stained glass window maker at the church, and hwen the stained glass window maker passed away. The community gave the house to Ronnies dad, even though the house is very old and a mess, he likes his house although he is embarassed to say.
Steve was also in a fire. Although he does not know the details on how the fire started, Steve was playing the piano in the church late one night and then before he knew it he was getting carried out of the buring church by firemen. Many people of the community believe that Steve started the fire himself but he knows that he didnt.
This book has kept me interested the whole time. It really uses alot of the details. Even though I saw the movie before I read the book I still find the book to be very interesting and I am finding many details in the book that were not in the movie that furthers the characters personalities and the strengthens the story. I am looking foreward to reading more.

Interesting Artwork
So I've recently gotten a Stumble upon account and it's really helped me in reading the web. I love art so that is one of my selected topics and I feel so much more connected to the art world now. Anyway, I love what this guy is doing. It is sort of a half real, half unreal sort of style. It mixes the average with unordinary. It's very cool. I might even try doing it myself.

Look up this link, I really recommend you do. I love looking at art and being able to watch artwork in the process is even better. This guy is really good at what he does. In this specific piece I love what he does with the place and bottle. They sort of resemble Mars to me.
The Last Song pgs. 1-13
I just recently decided to read the book The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. I decided that I wanted to read it after a friend of mine had recommended it to me and I also have seen the movie before. I always hate watching the movie before reading the book because I feel that I cant make my own images for things and that I'm stuck with the ones in the movie. But, I heard this book was really good so I had to try it.
In the first chapter it talks about Ronnie, she is on the way to Georgia to visit her Dad with her brother. Her parents are divorced and from what I've read in the book so far the divorce was not a good one. Ronnie after her parents divorce took it very harshly. She turned to more dark clothes, and "is only friends with kids with at least 3 piercings" as her mom said. Also, in the book Ronnie tells her Dad that she is not playing the piano where I know is foreshadowing in the book because the piano us something that her dad and her share. The chapter also talks about how Ronnie has completely shut of her Dad and basically most of her life. Her grades plummeted and she didn't care about anything. She even got caught shoplifting. And she protests to her Mom during the entire car ride to Georgia about how she does not want to stay with her Dad. Although her Mom insists that she does go and basically forces her to.
The chapter also talks a little about Ronnie's brother Noah, who is very sweet and loves his Dad. He is like the common 9 year old hoping to get the approval of his father. Unlike Ronnie, Noah did not take the divorce out on the Dad and has been looking foreword to visit for a long time.
Overall, I really have enjoyed the book so far. Although it is not like the normal book choice that I would pick, I still really have enjoyed reading it. I like the way Sparks describes Ronnie, oddly enough, I like Ronnie's character even though she seems angry. I can't wait to read more into this book.

Breaking Dawn pgs. 164-206
In these few chapters, Bella tells Jake that she is going to become a vampire. Jake as always freaks out and starts yelling at Bella telling her that she can't kill herself that way and that it is immoral and that he will not talk to her again if she does that to him. Jake is afraid that he will loose another battle with for Bela, not this time for her heart but for her life. Little does Jake know that Edward as well as Jacob doesn't want Bella to become a vampire. However now because of complications with Bella being pregnant it may be necessary for Bella to become a vampire in order to survive the birth of the child. Hearing this Jake is so shocked and is not sure what to do, he is convinced that Bella can make it without becoming a vampire, he wants to kill the baby. But for Bella killing the "thing" in Jacobs terms that is killing her is out of the question and she will not kill her own child.
The trio of Edward, Bella and Jacob all add complications. In the book all of the problems are really starting to surface. Although Jacob is the one telling the story, at this point it really starts to get interesting.

Whenever I read Jacobs part I always feel very biased because I am an Edward fan. I just feel that Jacob whines about everything rather than doing something about it. In what I have read Jacob is running around the continent not listening to his pack and going off on his own. Jacob is hurt and torn because Bela ultimately chose Edward and married him. He is all by himself in the wilderness and refusing to phase back into his human form, staying a wolf. He ran away after he made a surprise appearance at Bela's wedding and made Bela's day. When Jacob runs away he tears his pack in two. The pack begins to fight amongst themselves creating more drama for the whole quilette community.
I really do not like Jacobs part, I think that his part is very boring and all he does is whine and talk about what he is missing out on. I really do not enjoy his part. But what I have noticed is that Jacob talks in a much more less formal way than Bela, he cusses alot more and has less care for other people.

Interesting Prom?
I really love this dress, it truly is unique. I like the hole in the side where it shows different shavings and things done to the dress. I like the dress for its abstraction. Although I would never personally wear this dress I really like the way the designer used the color and I like the way they did her make-up as well.
Breaking Dawn pgs. 116-138
This is the final chapter to Bela's part one, the book consists of 3 parts; Part one:Bela, Part Two: Jacob and Part Three: Bela. In this chapter Bela is late on her period (no other way to phrase sorry) and she thinks that she may be pregnant but has no idea how it is possible. It was never known to any myth that vampires and humans could conceive children. The fear in Edwards eyes as Bela tells him the news, tells Bela that this is a very dangerous situation. Edward soon starts freaking out packing everything and getting the soonest ride back to Forks. When they get back to Forks Edward has Carlisle check out Bela. They soon realize that if it was a normal human baby that her pregnancy wouldn't be progressing as fast as it is, and that the baby is half vampire/ half human. At the rate that the pregnancy is going they will need to find a way of helping Bela because if they can't find a way to help her pregnancy she will die. The vamp/human baby will eventually kill her.
I like reading this chapter because it really "turns up the heat" in the book. The book really starts to get interesting at this point. Looking foreword to the book I am NOT looking foreword to reading the Jacob part, I think he is whiney. Anyway, this book is my favorite of the series and I always am interesting and enveloped in the book when I start reading.

Breaking Dawn pgs. 51-116
In these chapters it is mostly about Edward and Bela settling into the married life, them going on excursions, night swimming and other activities. Bela is busy all day with all of the activities that when it is time to have a romantic eventing she is always to tired to do anything and falls right asleep when they get back to the island cottage. Feeling that Edward is doing this on purpose she tells Edward that she is feeling more of a movie day and decides to stay in all day one day. At night then she is ready for romance and Edward has no choice but to give in.
Other than there struggles with romance Edward and Bela's relationship is thriving, they are deep in love and Bela wonders why she was ever even worried about getting married in the first place. While they are at the island Esme has workers at her island that clean their cottage. When one of the women workers sees Bela with Edward she yells, screaming in an ancient language and pointing to Edward. Edward later informs her that the women knew that he was a vampire and that the women thought that Edward was keeping Bela hostage as food and that he was tricking her. He also told Bela about more of the ancient myths of the island that the inhabitants believe.
I enjoyed rereading these chapters, they are very sensual so I did my best not to elaborate very much on the topic. But I do like these chapters, they are defiantly the read at night type. I do love these books and I am looking foreword to reading the rest. Whenever I read these books over I always notice something new and the book becomes that more interesting.
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner pg. 92-124
In the book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, the main character Bree uncovers more secrets about Victoria the mysterious red headed woman that Riley is reporting to. Bree goes on one of her first hunts as well, learning the craft of killing and being unnoticed. She attacks a hooker and her pimp, people who no one would notice if they were gone. While sucking the blood out of the woman she has a sad realization that she does not want to live this way, praying off of lowlifes and drug addicts. Bree also finds out during her hunt about one of Riley's lies, that vampires burn in the sunlight, as she stands in the sun expecting to incinerate, she stays the same. Finding this out Bree decides to keep it to herself, because she doesn't want to further the controversies going on at camp. Also Riley tells everyone at the base camp that some vampires have special powers including the ones in the enemy coven. Bree thinks if she has special powers too..
My take on the book is that it has a pretty slow build-up and that in the end the story will really start to get interesting. My prediction is that Bree will try to become a "vegetarian" like the Cullens and strive for a better life even though they are already dammed. I like the character of Bree, Stephanie Meyer gives her a lot of personality and allows the reader to create a sympathetic bond toward her.

Breaking Dawn pgs. 39-50
This chapter is my favorite chapter, it is the wedding between Bela and Edward. In this chapter Alice works so hard in order to make Bela look gorgeous for her wedding. Wedding being Alice's favorite things, she works so hard in order to make everything perfect and succeeds. In this chapter Bela is so nervous she can hardly stand it, she has never been more nervous for anything in her life. Its not that she has cold feet but she is nervous because of how everyone will view her. But as soon as she looks in the mirror she knows that she is ready. Nearly everyone is crying because they know that Bela and Edward are meant to be together. After they get married Bela and Edward are on their way to their honeymoon vacation spot where Bela has no idea where they are going. Bela soon finds out that the vacation spot is an island that Carslile bought for Esme. The island is a beautiful island where they are the only inhabitants on one side. The ocean and trees around all of the island are all perfect.
This chapter is definitely my favorite chapter because I love all of the detail Stephanie Meyer adds when talking about the wedding and the island. She makes the wedding sound truly magical. In this chapter I like how Edward and Bela express their bond in marriage after waiting three books for them to get married this chapter is definitely satisfactory.

My Favorite Poem if ALL TIME
A Dream Within a Dream
Edgar Allan Poe
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
I'm not sure as to why I love this poem so much but I do. I love the way Poe has with words and the dark and twisted side about him too. He is one of my favorite American Writers. He explores the dark workings of the human mind. Also, my favorite lines of this poem are "Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream?" I like how he lets you think about it.
